We welcome applicants in their final year of university who are graduating after March 2018. The program runs from April 2017 until March 2018, so you’ll need to be available and enrolled throughout this period.
Nope. As long as you’re a student studying full-time in any university/college in Malaysia, you’re welcome to apply.
All of them. Students from all majors and disciplines are welcome to apply because awesome people come from the most unexpected places.
Of course we hope that you’re familiar enough with League of Legends to jump into a game with us. Can you imagine interviewing for a job at Apple without having ever tried an iPhone or a Mac? Playing League is just table stakes. You don't need to be a pro League of Legends player though. While every Rioter plays League of Legends, not all of us are gonna hit Plat—and that’s okay!
Knowing English is essential as the program will be run in English. However, we also want you to speak the language of your campus. So if your campus predominantly uses Malay as the go-to language, then ideally we’d like you to also be able to speak Malay.
Nope! You don’t need to get paid for doing something to count it as experience. Class projects, volunteer work, independent projects, and other activities (attending conferences, workshops, hackathons, and game jams) rack up experience points that enhance your capabilities and value. Riot highly prizes autodidacts, so show us what you’ve learned.
We don’t have an exact number. It could be as little as 5 or as many as 50.
Ideally, we’d like to have one ambassador per university / college, though we’re willing to make allowances for universities with more than one campus.
The kick-off of the program will begin in late April and we’ll wrap up everything by March the following year.
While this is likely to vary depending on your level commitment, workload and the size of the community at your university, we suggest that you spend no more than 4 hours per week on the program. Your classes and studies should come first!
We’re focusing on Malaysia for now, but we’re considering a similar program for our Singapore players too. Stay tuned for more information.
Every university will have different circumstances, so a lot of your role will depend on the most pressing concerns that the community there faces. We’re looking for broadly capable ambassadors who can handle whatever comes their way at their university.
Visit the Riot Games Student Ambassador Facebook page or drop us an e-mail at rsamy@riotgames.comand we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
There are lots of ways to stand out. We’re looking for students who can carve their own tracks, and create awesome experiences for students at their university. We’re not expecting you to have tons of experience, just an open mind and willingness to grow during the program.
We’re currently not asking for anything beyond what is described in the application form. They won’t come into play until later in the application process, so stash them somewhere safe for now.
If your application collects sufficient kudos, we'll be in touch via email or a quick phone call to set up a video interview. During which, we'll ask about your interests, expertise, and hear your thoughts on the Riot and League of Legends brand. If all goes well, we’ll schedule a final call to discuss the next steps.
You can only edit your application if you retain the link from the Google Form after you submitted. Otherwise, you will need to resubmit a brand new application so it is definitely worth double checking before hitting the submit button. When faced with duplicates, we’ll take the latter application as the updated submission.
Unfortunately, no. We know it takes time to put a quality application together, so we’ll endeavour to respond to your application within 2 weeks of applying if you have been shortlisted.
We’ll open applications during February - stay tuned for more information.
No, as we are not employing student ambassadors. Rest assured, all ambassadors will be adequately rewarded for their efforts through the reward system we’ve put in place. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible to a Play Fund (up to 400 RM/year) for purchasing video games!
Ambassadors earn points through their activities or completing quests in the program. As you rank up, you unlock rewards like RP and other awesome prizes. For our top ambassadors, we’re even offering partial scholarships or a pair of tickets to the League of Legends World Championship 2018. We’ll share more juicy details if you’re selected as an ambassador.
We’ll provide a standard reference letter to all ambassadors detailing their participation in the program. We’ll additionally provide a testimonial for exceptional ambassadors.
All active ambassadors will receive RM100 per quarter for any video game purchases they made - including game subscriptions, mobile games and in-game purchases.
We’re keeping our eyes open for exceptional ambassadors that display great passion and talent throughout the program.
